AFTER MY HUSBAND STOLE EVERYTHING FOR HIS MISTRESS, HER BILLIONAIRE HUSBAND CAME TO MY DOOR WITH A PLAN
Chapter 1 / 4

Chapter 1

PART 1 - THE MORNING MY HUSBAND EMPTIED MY LIFE

435 words

The balance on my screen read $0.00.

My heart nearly stopped.

One hundred and fifty thousand dollars I had spent years putting aside... had vanished overnight.

There was only one entry in the transaction history.

Outgoing wire transfer. Authorized by: Isaac.

Right then, the front door opened.

My husband walked in carrying a cup of coffee, looking completely relaxed, as if it were just another normal morning.

“Isaac...” I turned my laptop toward him. “What is this?”

He gave the screen a quick glance.

“Oh... you found it already? I was going to send you a message.”

“Where's our money?”

“I transferred it.”

“To where?”

Isaac casually took another sip of coffee.

“To Sarah's account.”

For a moment, I honestly thought I had heard him wrong.

“Sarah? Your former assistant?”

“That's right.”

A faint grin appeared on his face.

“Oh, and by the way... I'm filing for divorce this afternoon.”

I couldn't move.

But he still wasn't

finished.

“You have forty-eight hours to get out.”

I laughed in disbelief.

“Get out of the house I paid seventy percent of the down payment for? My name is on the deed. You can't force me out.”

Isaac folded his arms.

“You should check your mail.”

“I refinanced the house and pulled five hundred thousand dollars out of the equity.”

“That's impossible,” I interrupted. “You can't refinance without my notarized signature.”

His smile grew even broader.

“Exactly.”

“And you signed those papers last week.”

I stared at him.

“I never signed anything.”

“Oh, you did.” He shrugged. “A friend of mine took care of the paperwork. Everything's already been finalized.”

Then he walked away.

Three hours later, my mother-in-law, Tessa, came through the front door, followed by my father-in-law, Carlton, and my sister-in-law, Heather, who was carrying cardboard boxes and several rolls of packing tape.

“We're here to help you

pack,” my mother-in-law announced with a smug smile. “Consider that one hundred and fifty thousand dollars your payment for wasting my son's time.”

I didn't respond.

I simply stood there and watched.

Then Heather's husband quietly walked into the kitchen, turned on the faucet, and slipped a folded note into my pocket.

His voice was barely above a whisper.

“They didn't only drain your savings.”

“Isaac also used your identity to secure a five-hundred-thousand-dollar loan.”

I froze.

Wayne.

Heather's husband.

He looked me directly in the eye.

“Call this number. Holden's been looking for you.”

I said nothing.

Wayne leaned in slightly, his jaw tight.

“Holden already knows. He traced everything on Heather's side. The second you're out of this house, call him. He's already got a plan.”
